Introduction
  • The Advance Ship Notice, or ASN, has two purposes:
    • It lets your trading partner know that your goods have been shipped and are on the way to them
    • It tells your trading partner how your goods have been packed
  • Allow more time to learn the ASN because there is more data to input and more business rules to follow on the ASN than the purchase order and invoice.

Common ASN Errors
  • Here is a list of common ASN errors new users sometimes make:


    • ASN number is not unique.
    • Store number code is incorrect.
    • SCAC code is missing or incorrect.
    • Bill of Lading number is incorrect.
    • UCC-128 number is not unique.
    • Lading quantity is incorrect.
    • ASN packing description does not match shipment.

Tips
  • Send a packing diagram to your CovalentWorks Client Service manager before training on ASNs.
  • Get a packing diagram from your warehouse or person who is doing your packing if you are doing the ASNs and you can not actually see the shipment.
