B&H Photo EDI Compliance
Founded in 1973, B&H Photo has become the largest non-chain photo and video equipment store in the United States and they have accomplished this with only one location which is in New York. The company has about 5,000 customers visit their store daily although most of their sales come from their website.
B&H Photo sells a wide variety of products such as computers, lighting and studio, TV’s and entertainment, camcorders, surveillance, and underwater cameras. B&H not only strives to always have the most popular products in stock, but makes sure to have the obscure accessories and solutions to satisfy every customer.
EDI documents are communicated through a transmission method called VAN (Value Added Network). The following EDI document types and labels have been fully tested by CovalentWorks for exact compliance with B&H Photo EDI specifications.
B&H Photo EDI Requirements
- 810 Invoice
- 850 Purchase Order
- 855 Purchase Order Response
- 856 Advanced Ship Notice
- 997 Acknowledgement
- GS1-128 (formerly called UCC-128) bar code shipping labels
B&H Photo mandates two label types when purchase orders are filled; carton only labels and a pallet only labels.
The ASN (Advance Shipping Notice) will have in-depth information about the items that are being shipped, how they have been packed, and how they are being transported. For example, the Numeric Gross Weight, Numeric Volume, Carrier Name, Bill of Lading, Carrier Reference, Shipped Date, and Current Schedule Delivery Date will be included as well as information that comes directly from the purchase order.
B&H Photo uses the SOPI and SOTI format for ASN’s. SOPI stands for Shipment, Order, Pack (carton) and Item. SOPI is also known as “Pick and Pack” because more than one type of item can be packed into the same carton. The SOTI (Shipment, Order, Tare (Pallet) and Item) ASN format is identical to SOPI except that the carton information is replaced by pallet information.
