Buy Buy Baby EDI Compliance
Buy Buy Baby started up in 1996 and is one of Babies “R” Us’s primary competitors. BBB sells a wide assortment of baby products, almost 20,000, in their 28,000 to 60,000 square feet stores. These products include nursery and children furniture such as cribs, dressers, bedding, armoires, and other accessories. Buy Buy Baby also offers infant and changeable car seats as well as booster seats, strollers, highchairs, swings, and much more.
EDI documents are communicated through a transmission method called a VAN (Value Added Network). The following EDI document types and labels are mandatory by Buy Buy Baby and have been fully tested by CovalentWorks for exact compliance with Buy Buy Baby’s EDI specifications.
Buy Buy Baby EDI Requirements
The ASN (Advance Shipping Notice) will contain comprehensive information about the packing of the products that are being sent to Buy Buy Baby and as well as transportation information. For example, numeric gross weight, SCAC code, Bill of Lading, shipped date, pack quantity will be included in addition to data that comes from the purchase order.
Buy Buy Baby uses the SOPI and SOIP format for ASN’s. SOPI is mainly used for shipments with more than one item type and SOIP is used for shipments that have only one item type. An SOPI (Shipment, Order, Pack (carton) and Item) ASN is also known as “Pick and Pack” because more than one type of item can be picked from the supplier’s shelves and packed into the same carton.
SOIP (Shipment, Order, Item and Pack) is commonly called “Standard Pack” because it allows for only one product type to be packed into any one container. A few examples of the different types are ASN’s are below:
