EDI 945 Warehouse Shipping Advice

The EDI 945 Warehouse Shipping Advice is used by a remote third party warehouse to tell a supplier that a shipment has been sent to the destination requested by the supplier. The request from the supplier will usually have been previously sent on a 940 Warehouse Shipping Order.

Information provided on the 945 Warehouse Shipping Advice typically includes:

  • Supplier information
  • When the shipment was sent
  • Ship from information
  • Ship to information
  • Carrier used and shipping method
  • Item numbers, descriptions and quantities as packed by carton

The supplier will respond to the Warehouse Shipping Advice with a 997 Functional Acknowledgment to indicate that the EDI transaction was received.

The 945 Warehouse Shipping Advice provides the supplier with the information necessary to send an 856 Advance Shipping Notice, and later an 810 Invoice, to the buyer of the shipment.
