Fry’s Electronics requires several kinds of labels when suppliers ship orders. Some of these labels types are:
Carton only Label
Carton Only Label with cross reference Ship To
Pallet Only Label
Pallet Only Label cross reference Ship To
The ASN (Advance Shipping Notice) contains detailed information about the products that are being sent to Fry’s, packing and as well as transportation information. For example, the gross numeric weight, SCAC code, Bill of Lading number, and date will be included in addition to data that comes from the purchase order.
Fry’s Electronics uses three types of ASNs:
SOPI Loose Carton Specific
SOTI Shrink Wrapped Pallet Specific
SOTPI Palletized Carton Specific
An SOPI ( Shipment, Order, Pack (carton) and Item) ASN is also known as “Pick and Pack” because more than one type of item can be picked from the supplier’s shelves and packed into the same carton.
An SOTI (Shipment, Order, Tare (pallet) and Item) ASN except that pallet level information is substituted for carton level information.
The SOTPI (Shipment, Order, Tare (pallet), Pack (carton) and Item) packing structure is like the SOPI packing structure, except that the cartons are loaded onto one or more pallets/slips.
Below is a sample of two of their labels:
