Grainger EDI Requirements
The ASN (Advance Shipping Notice) will contain comprehensive information about the packing of the products that are being sent to Grainger as well as transportation information. For example, the numeric gross weight, transportation carrier code, trailer/equipment number, Bill of Lading number, Pro number, date, time, and supplier country code will be included in addition to data that comes from the purchase order.
Grainger uses the SI format for ASN’s. SI stands for Shipment and Item. This packing structure will result in an ASN document that has one shipping level, which contains within it one item level for each distinct item contained within the shipment. The quantities specified for each of the items will be the total quantity of that item found in the shipment.
