The ASN (Advance Shipping Notice) contains detailed information about the products that are being sent to Honda and as well as transportation information. For example, the date, time shipped, gross weight, SCAC code, trailer number, product ID, and bar coded serial number will be included in addition to data that comes from the purchase order.
Honda uses the STI format for ASN’s. STI stands for Shipment, Tare (pallet), and Item. Two types of STI ASN’s are used. The two types are:
- 850 SPECIFIC
- 862 SPECIFIC
