McLane EDI Requirements
The ASN (Advance Shipping Notice) contains detailed information about the products that are being sent to McLane and as well as transportation information. For example, the gross weight, routing number, number of days shipment will be in transit, Bill of Lading, date, seller’s invoice number and size will be included in addition to data that comes from the purchase order.
McLane uses the SOI format for ASN’s. SOI stands for Shipment, Order, and Item. SOI is also known as “summary ASN” and does not have as much carton detail information as some other ASN structures.
McLane uses a cross docking system for supplier deliveries to distribution centers. Appointments for deliveries must be made 72 hours in advance. The carrier is responsible for unloading, sorting, and segregating at the dock.
