United Stationers had about 70 sophisticated warehouses that are able to deliver any of 100,000 items to nearly every state in the U.S. within one day.
The company offers products such as office supplies, electronics, furniture, business products, industrial, and janitorial supplies.

United Stationers EDI Requirements
The ASN (Advance Shipping Notice) contains detailed information about the products that are being sent to United Stationers and as well as transportation information. For example, the gross weight, SCAC code, Bill of Lading number, date, name, carrier name and associated invoice will be included in addition to data that comes from the purchase order.
United uses the SOPI and SOTPI format for ASN’s.
An SOPI (Shipment, Order, Pack (carton) and Item) ASN is also known as “Pick and Pack” because more than one type of item can be picked from the supplier’s shelves and packed into the same carton.
The SOTPI packing structure is like the SOPI packing structure, except that the cartons are in turn loaded onto one or more pallets/slips which is the T (Tare) level of the ASN.
